KOAT PROFILE

KOICA Alumni Association of Tanzania (KOAT), is a voluntary organization formed by KOICA scholarship program beneficiaries with support from KOICA Tanzania. The association was established in 2005 and currently has over 2000  members (as of 2024).

The primary objectives of KOAT are:

  1. To unite all KOICA scholarship ex-beneficiaries in Tanzania to develop and improve their capacities and status.
  2. To facilitate the sharing of knowledge, skills, and resources between and among KOICA alumni members and to provide technical advice to development challenges that we are facing.
  3. To create mutual understanding and cooperation between KOAT and other KOICA ALUMNI ASSOCIATIONS throughout the world for sharing development experiences and networking.
  4. To assist the needy community through material and technical support.
  5. Without compromising its status, aims, and objectives, the Association shall develop, maintain, and foster cooperation and partnership with like-minded organizations, companies, and other national organizations with a view of sharing social and economic Development knowledge in Tanzania.

The KOAT management lies under four elected executive leaders (President, Vice President, Secretary General, and Treasurer who work closely with other members. The leaders initiate the plans and share them with the other members for approval and later execute various activities.

These activities usually implemented include annual meetings, knowledge-sharing sessions, voluntary community service, and donations, among others.

Using this approach, KOAT fulfills a vital role as an evolving platform that empowers its members to leverage their acquired knowledge, shared experiences, and values as well as skills, and networks to address the complex challenges faced by the Tanzanian community.
