I am thrilled to share the incredible journey we have undertaken with the KOICA Alumni Association of Tanzania (KOAT). My name is  Manshik Shin, the Country Director of the KOICA Tanzania office.

The KOICA Country Office in Tanzania was established in 2002 and provides s and technical assistance for development projects in Tanzania. The Capacity Improvement and Advancement for Tomorrow (CIAT) program is one of the key programs that offers technical support and fellowships to Government officials. So far, more than 2,000 Tanzanian government officials have been trained in Korea in long and short-term courses to strengthen the partnership between the two countries.

Since KOICA’s inception in Tanzania, the partnership has evolved into a dynamic and mutually beneficial cooperation centered on shared values and a common vision for a more prosperous tomorrow. Together, we have undertaken numerous initiatives that have impacted the lives of countless individuals and communities across Tanzania. From donating to orphanages, knowledge-sharing seminars, and equipping hospitals for essential services to collaborating with the government authorities, our partnership has made a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.

KOAT’s work over the years has been exemplary demonstrating how building an alumni network can be an impetus for positive change when they work concertedly. Building on the skills, knowledge, and experiences garnered during their studies in Korea, leads to tireless and selfless giving back to Tanzania.  The determination to venture into different fields of education, health care, technology, or culture has made a great and unmistakable difference in the lives of many Tanzanians.

KOAT has also been at the forefront of building and advancing cultural understanding and enlightenment about the differences in our people and what brings us together in commonality between these two great nations of the world. Promoting Korean culture through events such as festivals, language programs, etc has enriched Tanzania’s cultural landscape and deepened the bonds of friendship between our two countries. Your commitment to cultural diplomacy truly deserves high commendation.

I wish to convey my deep appreciation to the KOAT Executive Board and the esteemed alumni for their unwavering dedication, keen enthusiasm, and generous support. Our remarkable journey would not have been possible without your steadfast commitment to our shared mission.
