On Wednesday, August 13th, KOICA Tanzania Office and KOAT Alumni Tanzania (KOAT), in partnership with an NGO Good People, carried out a school feeding volunteer service “Bright Meals, Brighter Future” in Zanzibar, to enhance nutrition and school feeding environment in Tanzania. The voluntary work brought together over 220 kids from Jumbi Preschool, aged around five.

The event was held at the Jumbi Preschool, attended by Mr. Manshik Shin, Country Director of KOICA Tanzania, KOAT President Dr. Deman Yusuf, Ms. Fatma Mode Ramadhani, Director of Pre-primary and Primary Education, and Ms.Misook Choi, Coordinator of the Good People.

The activity was conducted through the remarks from Mr. Shin, highlighting the shared commitment to child welfare and inclusive development. Also, Children from Jumbi Nursery School prepared a cultural performance, followed by a short gift presentation as a gesture of encouragement.

During the donation ceremony, KOICA and KOAT officially handed over school feeding and cooking supplies valued at approximately USD 2,000, including food storage containers, cooking pots, basins, detergent, and a gas stove with a cylinder.

Following the formal proceedings, KOAT alumni, KOICA staff, and Good People joined hands in serving breakfast consisting of eggs, bread, sweet potatoes, and porridge. In addition to the meal service, volunteers also blew balloons and distributed them to the children, filling the schoolyard with color and excitement.

This activity was more than a feeding program; it was a celebration of solidarity and partnership. By combining alumni networking with volunteer service, the event reinforced the strong ties between KOICA alumni, local partners, and government stakeholders.

Most importantly, it created a day of happiness and nourishment for young learners, showcasing KOAT’s ongoing commitment to promoting child health, education, and community well-being in Tanzania.
